# Bundled music — licenses and attribution

Every track here is licensed **CC BY 4.0** (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0
International). Tracks under NonCommercial (`-NC`) or NoDerivatives (`-ND`)
terms were deliberately excluded: `-NC` would bar commercial client work, and
`-ND` is at best ambiguous when a track is trimmed and faded into a montage.

Files were downloaded from the Internet Archive and re-encoded to 128 kbps MP3
(44.1 kHz stereo) to keep the repository small. Re-encoding is the only change;
no track has been edited, remixed, or otherwise altered.

## What CC BY 4.0 requires of you

You may use these commercially, including in client work, **provided you give
attribution**. Credit must be reasonable for the medium — for a social video,
crediting in the post caption or description is the normal practice.

A credit line needs the title, the creator, and the license:

The app shows the required credit line for whichever track you pick, and copies
it to the clipboard along with your export.

## Adding your own

Drop an audio file into this folder and add an entry to `manifest.json`, or
just use the app's "Upload track" button — uploaded audio never touches the
manifest and stays local to your browser.

Licenses were read from each item's Internet Archive metadata at the time of
download (2026-08-05). If you plan to use a track in a high-visibility
campaign, it is worth re-checking the source page: uploaders can change an
item's stated license after the fact.
